Live Surrealism – World Museum Rotterdam

The exhibition Live Surrealism takes visitors into a world of dreams, imagination, and resistance, and shows surrealism as a global way of thinking and seeing. Works by dozens of artists from different continents and cultures come together here.

For the exhibition at the World Museum Rotterdam, Kloosterboer realized the various exhibition spaces and spatial elements. The distinctive design plays with perspective and breaks through the boundaries of the existing museum space in several places. In the final hall, walls, ceiling, and floor even disappear from view, creating a unique and alienating environment that aligns with the surreal character of the exhibition.

One of the central works is Sleepwalkers (2009–2017) by Roberta Stoddart, recently acquired by the World Museum.

Live Surrealism is currently on view at the World Museum Rotterdam and runs until August 29, 2027.
