Update Airborne Experience

In 1944 Hartenstein served as headquarters for the British airborne troops. Heavy damage was caused during the lost Battle of Arnhem. The last of the war damage was only repaired last year. The busy museum renovated the entire interior with a view to the future, in which there are no longer people who experienced the war themselves.

Kloosterboer has been able to update the Airborne Experience in collaboration with design agency Tinker Imagineers.

In the underground Airborne Experience, the visitor goes through the story of the Battle of Arnhem step by step. You follow in the footsteps of a British paratrooper and go on a mission. History comes to life through realistic reconstructions and life-size film fragments. Image and sound completely surround the experience. Suddenly you find yourself among the fierce battles in the Arnhem streets of the 1940s. The sound of a devastating war: shots, impacts, English shouts, German orders, the fear of those in hiding.

The museum will be open to visitors again from June 1, 2020.
