100 years of Schiphol Amsterdam Museum
On September 19, 1916, a small plane landed for the first time on a patch of farmland in Haarlemmermeer. Not far from Amsterdam, five meters below sea level. There was no runway yet. Just four wooden hangars, nothing else. This exhibition explores a hundred years of Schiphol: from muddy pasture to high-tech airport. And about the future. Where is Schiphol headed? Are there limits to its growth?
Participate in the control tower game and guide planes safely to the runways. Step into the shoes of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee at a real passport office. And share your wish for the future. Should Schiphol move to the North Sea? Will we be flying in unmanned aircraft in fifty years?
