CONO Cheese Factory

Queen Máxima opened Cono's new cheese factory in Westbeemster on November 13, 2014. The new factory is the crowning achievement of the cheesemakers: producing the most delicious cheese sustainably in a sustainably built factory. Ultra-modern yet artisanal. The new factory is expected to produce 38 million kilos of Beemster cheese annually.

 

Sustainable, timeless materials have been used for the cheese factory, the offices, and the grounds. The building's structure and choice of materials provide natural insulation and allow for ample natural light. The new cheese factory is CO2 neutral and will be fully climate-neutral. The building has been nominated for the award for the most sustainable building in the Netherlands.
