To live
For the renovated Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden, Kloosterboer was commissioned to develop and produce the Life hall in collaboration with the design agency Kossmanndejong. Life is the entrance hall of the museum, located in the heart of the building.
A sensational display featuring masterpieces from Naturalis takes you through diverse landscapes. You'll start in the deep sea and end up atop a mountain peak, practically suspended in the air. Along the way, you'll encounter a vast diversity of plants and animals.
This gallery focuses on the whole, how all plants and animals, from small to large, interact. You'll walk beneath a massive shark, come face-to-face with an African elephant, and pass by a huge flock of butterflies and remarkable birds. You can even pet some of the animals. Combinations of light, film, and sound make you truly become part of the "Life" gallery. Here, you'll experience the beauty and richness of nature with all your senses.
