Escher – Other world

Step into Escher's world. This is literally possible in Escher – Other World in Kunstmuseum The Hague until September 10, 2023. In this exhibition you can experience Escher's work like never before.

His famous prints, which focus on optical illusions, impossible architecture, reflection and nature, are combined here with spectacular installations by the Belgian artist duo Gijs Van Vaerenbergh. The interaction between Escher's prints and the spatial installations of Gijs Van Vaerenbergh create a unique experience. Kloosterboer is responsible for the interior design of the exhibition.

For the layout of this double exhibition, the duo opted for the contrast between day and night, beloved by Escher. The first part of the exhibition, entitled 'DAY', takes place in large, light-filled rooms that are divided thematically and in which Escher's work and Gijs Van Vaerenbergh's spatial installations challenge and reinforce each other. In the second part of the exhibition, called 'NIGHT', quirky themes are highlighted in cabinets, like small lights in the dark.
