Redevelopment of Center Céramique
For 20 years, Centre Céramique has been a prominent landmark in Maastricht. The building welcomes approximately 400,000 visitors annually. After intensive use, Centre Céramique was redeveloped in 2021 to be more sustainable, more accessible, and with a contemporary cultural offering. Designed by Jo Coenen, the building houses the Maastricht City Library and various exhibition spaces, among other facilities.
By using smart technology and sustainable materials, the building is more energy-efficient. With the library's new layout and design, tailored and integrated exhibitions for heritage and visual culture, and the arrival of the Kumulus music school, the ambition to make Centre Céramique the cultural heart of Maastricht is one step closer.
On the 3rd and 4th floors, where the library is located, objects from Maastricht's history are permanently displayed. The most remarkable pieces from the archaeology, pottery, and glass collections are on display here.
Based on Kinkorn's design, Kloosterboer developed, manufactured and assembled all the special furniture and museum elements.
