Robots Love Music
In the exhibition "Robots Love Music," you'll discover that the oldest and newest musical robots have hearts as well as brains! Over the centuries, musical "robots" have evolved to the point where they can not only imitate human movements but also compose and even improvise, just like we can. In all its variations and from all over the world. Centuries-old robots, interactive robots, metal robots, supersonic robots, life-size robots, cabinets with hidden robots, and many invisible musicians will be on display. And they'll all be playing live music.
Straight from the US comes the ultramodern, amiable, and musical robot Shimon. The impressive, life-sized 18th-century clarinetist, made by a Dutch artist, once ended up in America and is also coming to Utrecht specifically for the exhibition. And the French automaton Hugo, famous from the film of the same name, can be admired as a cinematic link between human and machine.
The interactive exhibition "Robots Love Music!" can be seen from September 21, 2018, to March 4, 2019.
