Silver Museum
A playful and contemporary museum for the whole family. That's the completely renovated Dutch Silver Museum in Schoonhoven. Around a long, festively decorated table, cabinets with titles like "Yes, I Do" and "Heavenly Desire" tell the story of silver in a surprising and associative way. Visitors are thus enticed to really look.
The 14-meter-long dining table is not only an eye-catcher but also a timeline. Visitors can see how silverware has changed over the centuries. The placemats on the cutlery are multimedia presentations that explain the various styles. The surrounding cabinets each tell a different story, each in its own visual language. The sides of the cabinets are filled with dioramas, videos, games, and humorous observations.
The Dutch Silver Museum has won a prestigious award for this presentation: the FX Award 2014 in the category Museum or Exhibition Space.
