Hans Christian Andersen House – Denmark

Hans Christian Andersen is not only one of the most famous fairytale writers in the world, but his timeless stories also form the foundation of the H.C. Andersen House in Odense, Denmark. The museum has undergone a redesign to immerse visitors even more deeply in Andersen’s world of imagination.

Everyone knows fairytales like The Ugly Duckling, The Princess and the Pea, The Little Mermaid, and Thumbelina. It’s a place where Andersen’s stories come to life, and visitors become part of the magic themselves.

Experience what it feels like to fly like a swan at the interactive pond. When you look into the water, you see yourself as a swimming swan, and as you spread your arms like wings, your reflection transforms into a beautiful animation in the style of Andersen’s world.

Or step into the world of Thumbelina in the enchanting reading garden, where a branch transforms into a giant bench and enormous flowers float in the soft sunlight.

In close collaboration with Opera Amsterdam, Studio Louter and Shosho, the complete redevelopment of the unique Hans Christian Andersen House was realised.

Kloosterboer was responsible for the exhibition design, production and installation of the furnishings, and the installation of AV hardware, dynamic lighting, and show control.
