Fortress Holland

The visitor center of the Jan Blanken Dry Dock underwent a complete transformation. Everything has been completely renovated and converted into a full-fledged museum. A collaboration between the Droogdok Jan Blanken and the City Museum Hellevoetsluis to better illuminate the rich history of the fortified city.

In the permanent exhibition the “Iron Age” you are taken back to the nineteenth century, when iron became as indispensable as air, water and fire. The showpiece of this exhibition is the beautifully restored model of the Hellevoetsluis National Shipyard.

For young explorers there is the Workshop of the Iron Age, where children can experiment with building wooden ships, drawing with a pantograph, bending trusses, navigating and much more!

Kloosterboer produced the furnishings, designed by Kinkorn, including the audiovisual hardware and show control systems.
