When you hear Judas, you think of betrayal. He is the man who betrays Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. That is the official version. But there is also a Gospel of Judas In which Jesus asks to betray him, Judas does what he does because Jesus himself asks him to. And that's remarkable, because Judas' action leads to Jesus' death on the cross.

Robert Icke became fascinated by this alternative version of the story and is bringing it to the stage in its world premiere: Judas as the true, perfect disciple of Jesus. A performance about the positive side of betrayal.
