Mozart's Magic Flute – The next generation

After the success of Amadeus (2019), director Theu Boermans is back with a new, large-scale music theatre performance: Mozart's Zauberflöte – The next generation.

A radical adaptation of Mozart's most famous opera, performed in Dutch and sung by a mix of top actors and opera singers. The performance is set in a dystopian near future where a group of ultra-right conservative men holds power. There is no room for women, young people, or minorities.

Even the Queen of the Night, an aging feminist, is ostracized. Along with her princess daughter, Pamina, and Prince Tamino, she takes on the ruling regime, aided by the overseer Papageno. The younger generation tries to overthrow those in power, making way for a new world where everyone is equal. Will love prevail?
