Resistance Resistance Museum

Resistance Museum Amsterdam brings the history of the Second World War in the Netherlands and the former colonies closer through more than 100 personal stories: stories of ordinary people who faced difficult choices in extreme circumstances. On December 1, 2022, Princess Margriet reopened the renovated Resistance Museum.

Step inside the exhibition “Netherlands in the Second World War” and take a journey through six phases of the occupation. Each phase is introduced with an impressive film projection that highlights the political and international context. In addition, small, moving personal stories together form the bigger picture. You can read or listen to these stories.

In close collaboration with Studio Ilona Laurijsse, Kloosterboer has developed, produced and installed the permanent presentations for the museum, including audiovisual hardware, the electrical installation and show control.

Resistance Museum Amsterdam has been nominated for the European Museum of the Year Award 2024. The winners will be announced in Portugal in May 2024.
