Introduction room Airborne Museum

Villa Hartenstein, the historic building that houses the Airborne Museum in Oosterbeek, plays a central role in the museum's new design. This region was once a place where wealthy people built country estates, but after World War II, the area was devastated. According to director Sarah Heijse, the history of the Hartenstein estate illustrates the damage war can do. Hartenstein is the only remaining publicly accessible estate.

The story of Hartenstein is the story of the consequences of war. During the Battle of Arnhem in September 1944, Hotel Hartenstein was central to the operation as the headquarters of the British airborne troops under the command of Major General Roy E. Urquhart.

The permanent exhibition at the Airborne Museum 'Hartenstein' recounts the day-to-day events of the Battle of Arnhem, from the airborne landings on the heath to the evacuation across the Rhine. After an introductory film, following the route reveals the complete story.

In addition to building the interior, Kloosterboer also supplied the AV hardware for the introduction room.
